Community Buildings

Over the past few years, the village community has worked with the project to build a village office, a village hall (the Brenda Redman Room), The Angela Carey Dispensary Clinic, Primary and Secondary Schools, and a farmers’ market (Tim’s Market)!

  • Village Office. In the mid 90’s the village council decided to move the office from the old building near the football pitch to a new site adjacent to the main road giving easier access to visitors from surrounding areas. The new office was opened in September 2009. It houses offices for the village chairman, the village executive officer and the council chamber.

  • The Brenda Redman Room and Tim’s Market. Tim and Brenda Redman, late of Weston-super-Mare, were staunch supporters of the project and members of Weston Lions. In their memory their family and The Lions Club raised funds for the construction of The Brenda Redman Room for use as a village hall and Tim’s Market. a farmers’s market, providing a lasting memory of a wonderful couple.
  • Anglican Church. St Augustine’s Church in Locking, near Weston, has been supporting the Anglican Church in Luhimba for several years both by contributing to the vicar’s stipend and by helping the church with other expenses. A few years ago, because of the condition of the building, the church community in Luhimba decided to start building a new church. This has been a ongoing task but the work is progressing well and we look forward to its completion in the not too distant future.
